Week calendar for iPhone

The standard calendar application for iPhone does not have a week view, something I really miss. Today a friend suggested that I’d take a look at Week Cal and it’s great.

Week Cal gives a great overview of a week and it uses the same calendar data as the standard calendar application so no extra syncing is needed. I sync a Google calendar with my iPhone and it works perfectly both ways.

Zen Brush

I have bought Zen Brush and I really enjoy it.

Enjoy performing zen art on your iPad or iPhone.
Zen Brush is an app that allows you to easily enjoy the feeling of using an ink brush to write or to paint. It allows anyone to easily perform fluent strokes while not compromising on the fascinating texture of a real ink brush. Create works that radiate the right atmosphere by choosing the best background template from our large collection. You can even post your works easily on twitter.

So far what I do is more like doodle with a brush but it’s fascinating. It’s mindfulness, full focus on what you are doing, and work as a tool for meditation too. Since it’s digital it’s easy to erase and start over again. I practice with my non-dominant hand too, it’s good to use both hands.

The iPhone Book

Since I want to use the functionality in my iPhone as much as possible I ordered The iPhone Book. The subtitle says “How to do the most important, useful and fun stuff with your iPhone” and the book looks promising. I like the book’s layout, each page covers just one single topic. The book includes a link to bonusvideos on Kelby’s site, a great way to start. This text on the back of the book is a good description of what you get:

this book is a “show-me-how-to-do-it” book that skips all the confusing techno-jargon and just tells you, in plain, simple English, exactly how to use the iPhone features you want to use most.

I like the book a lot and it delivers on its promises. There are eleven chapters ranging from the very basics to killer tips and tricks. The book covers email, the Safari browser, iTunes store and app store, iPod, the camera, settings and troubleshooting.

iPhone and me

Today I got my new iPhone 3Gs. I wanted a smart phone and a surftool, in the shop they said iPhone is the best and now I have one. I don’t like the way Apple runs its products as a closed territory but we’ll see how that works out.

The iPhone came in the smallest box I’ve yet seen for a mobile phone. No wonder, there’s no real documentation included, just a small folder. The charger is small and well designed, very nice.

The included documentation is a joke, the information at the Apple website is good but I want more and I have bought The iPhone Book.

I will blog more about the iPhone, applications I use and like.
