Content versus greed

The interesting thing about greed is that although the underlying motive is to seek satisfaction, even after obtaining what you want, you’re still not satisfied. It’s this endless, nagging desire for more that leads to trouble. On the other hand, if you’re truly contented, it doesn’t matter whether you get what you want or not. Either way, you remain content.

Communication matters

This video is about how learning sign language changes the world for deaf people.

Patrick Otema, 15 was born profoundly deaf. In the remote area of Uganda where he lives there are no schools for deaf children, and he has never had a conversation. Raymond Okkelo, a sign language teacher, hopes to change all this and offer Patrick a way out of the fearful silence he has known his whole life.

Love and respect

You will only be loved and respected if you love and respect yourself. Never try to please everyone; if you do, you will be respected by no one.

The Mental Leap

My site The Mental Leap, my fifth blog on a domain on its own, had an unclear role when it came to what I should post where. I’ve now decided that everything that covers change, growth, transition, inspiration and similar topics will be on The Mental Leap. That means older posts will be moved there, whenever I find the time to do that.

This blog will become more personal (and maybe more boring…).
