How to connect Google+ with Evernote

I am no avid user of Evernote but I want an easy way to save some of the things I read in Google+ somewhere else. +Brian Caldwell posted Share Google+ Content Directly Into Evernote:

1. Open your Evernote desktop application and click…
Mac: Evernote Menu >> Account Info
or
Windows: Tools Menu >> Account Info

2. In Account Info locate your special evernote email address and copy it (you can save it to an Evernote note for future reference)

3. Login to Google+, click the Circles tab and create a new Circle

4. In the Circle creation dialog window…
Name your Circle “Save 2 Evernote” or something you will remember
Click “Add a new person” and paste your unique Evernote email address into the text field
Click “Add ‘EvernoteEmail@m.evernote.com’ by Email”
Click “Create Circle with 1 member” to complete the Circle creation process

5. Share Content: Whenever you want to save something to Evernote, simply share it with the “Save2Evernote” Circle that you just created.

The post has a link to Brian’s shared Evernote-post, there are some images too if you need to see more how it’s done.

GMail and gadgets

I use Gmail, I like the labels instead of folders plus their strong spam filter. Google has introduced some useful extra features in the Labs section under settings.

ReadWriteWeb has a post about Five Fabulous Gmail Gadgets You Won’t Find in Labs. One of them is the Twitter Gadget:

The Twitter Gadget is a recent favorite of ours. Once installed, it provides a box where you can update your status, check your friends’ timeline, read your replies and direct messages, and view your favorites.

I have not tried the Twitter Gadget, I use TweetDeck – Twitter on your desktop.

Combine search in Twitter and Google

TwitterSomeone on Twitter posted a link to Realtime Twitter Search Results on Google. It gives an interesting mix of search results from Twitter and Google:

I created a Greasemonkey user script that does exactly this. It displays the most recent 5 tweets for the query that you are search for, giving both real-time Twitter search results and Google results on the same page:

You need to use Firefox and have Greasemonkey installed in order to be able to use this script. I have installed it and I like the combo of information from Twitter and Google.

It is also a new way to find people that share your interests since it shows you the twitter-id for each of the posts from Twitter.

Update July 2011
The agreement between Google and Twitter has expired so this does not work anymore.
